The digital photography accelerated workshop presents basic digital camera handling skills, lighting basics, and post-processing at a quick pace. Learn basic photography controls and techniques to get the most out of your digital camera.
The material covered in this workshop typically takes a minimum of five 3 hour sessions, this course will cover the same material over three 3 hour sessions.
Class size will be limited to 9 students to maintain
a low student to instructor ratio. Class is a blend of lecture and activities. Homework will be assigned.
This course is designed for those new to digital photography. Basic familiarity with Macintosh or Windows operating system is a must.
- Camera Manual (minimum)

At the completion of the course, each student will be able to:
- Describe the advantages and disadvantages of three major types of digital cameras

- Manually expose photographs
- Using an appropriate f-stop, control the depth of field
- Using an appropriate shutterspeed, control the degree of motion captured
- Select an appropriate white balance setting, given a specific lighting condition
- Describe three major lens types
- Using three types of numbers, describe a lens
- Describe camera settings ideal for outdoor shooting
- Describe camera settings ideal for indoor shooting
- Prepare to cover a special event
- List three rules of basic composition
- Compare hard and soft lighting
- List two types of flash
- List five types of continous lighting
- Identify three major light modifiers
- Sequence a basic digital work flow, from capture to output
- Using an image editing program, perform three major photo edits
- Prepare an image file for web use

- Quickly generate a webpage using Adobe Lightroom
